It works great with Mega Pop by Gold Medal, which has a little flavacol butter salt like in the theater. Some reviewers complain of rust and rotting, but the newer models have a better glass door, which is better than the old brittle plastic doors. The stir wire is too high, and popcorn gets stuck underneath, and the popper only dumps at 90 degrees. The bottom plate bows up when the heater is on, and one reviewer also had to be careful not to get the outside wet during cleaning because of the electrical box on the side. The pre-packaged popcorn 8 oz size is recommended, but there is a lot of unpopped popcorn on the bottom, and the kettle is supposed to be for 8 ounces. It might be better to try the 6-ounce popcorn. It is not a commercial popcorn machine, but it does a decent job, and it's easy to carry to events. Popcorn that is movie theater quality with flavacol salt, snappys oil, and snappys or Amish country kernels can be achieved, giving it authentic flavor. Reviewers who got the right popcorn-oil ratio and followed the right steps gave it five stars for its capability to make movie theater-quality popcorn.
