Answer: Most systems in vehicles are either 12 or 24 volt so your within that range. Depending on corroded wires that could drop voltage you should be safe to use this tester.

The Performance Tool W2992 Computer Safe LCD Digital Circuit Tester is a useful tool for anybody who works with electronics and vehicles. It can test circuits with a voltage range of 3 to 48 volts, and features an LCD screen that shows the actual voltage found without guesswork. The red and green LED's are easy to see when lit. The grounding alligator clip size is large enough for most standard battery posts. The product is solidly built with great solder joint from circuit board to testing cord. It is a real asset when you want to track down electrical shorts and save time from hours of unnecessary work. However, the product has some design flaws like the cord that could be straight and linger . Also, some customers have reported the cable breaking off from the top of the tester or breaking inside the tool after a couple of uses.
